Bisti developed a distinctive visual language in which the monumentality of imagery is combined with precise composition and heightened emotional intensity. A major milestone in his career was his role as artistic director of the 200-volume Library of World Literature series. Works by Dmitry Bisti are held in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery and the State Russian Museum. He is best known for his illustrations to Homer’s Odyssey and to The Tale of Igor’s Campaign, executed in the techniques of woodcut and etching.
