In 2008, he became the first hockey player to sign a contract worth over $100 million (124 million over 13 years in 2008). According to ESPN, he scored the best goal in NHL history. He is a nine-time winner of the Maurice Richard Trophy as the top scorer and was named the Hart Trophy player of the season three times.
