Alessio Baldovinetti was a 15th-century Italian painter and a member of the Florentine school of the Quattrocento. A student of Andrea del Castagno and a contemporary of Benozzo Gozzoli, he made a significant contribution to the development of early Renaissance painting, particularly in the areas of linear perspective, chiaroscuro, and subtle color modeling.
Baldovinetti worked primarily on religious themes, creating paintings, frescoes, and altarpieces. His works are known for their clear composition, precise rendering of anatomy, carefully crafted architectural elements, and refined use of color. His attention to detail and pursuit of formal harmony make his style particularly elegant compared to other masters of the period. Among his best-known works are The Annunciation, Madonna and Child, and Portrait of a Lady. Today, his paintings are housed in the Uffizi Gallery and the Palazzo Pitti in Florence. His contribution to the decoration of Florentine churches and monasteries makes his name an integral part of the artistic legacy of the Italian Renaissance.
