Scene: A mystical space. Deep blue hues. In the centre, the Tiger — completing the annual cycle — and the Dragon, freshly hatched from the egg. The following dialogue takes place between them:
Tiger (slowly, with deep intonation): — The inner empire… Dragon (unhurriedly, as if musing aloud): — Is inconceivable without external influence. Tiger (bows his head, gaze fixed into the distance): — What is the external? Is it the wind that stirs the leaves? The wave that crashes against the rocks? Dragon (gives a slight flap of his wing; sparks flare up in the air): — The external is a mirror. It shows us what we cannot see within. Tiger (narrows his eyes): — But if the mirror is shattered, then what?
Dragon (smiles, voice softens): — Then we gather the shards. And in each one — a fragment of truth. Tiger (rises from his throne, takes a step forward): — And if there is neither mirror nor shards? If the world is but a dream? Dragon (rises, his shadow lengthens): — A dream also requires a dreamer. And something that wakes him. Tiger (pauses, then nods): — So the external — is awakening? Dragon: — Awakening is connection. Between dream and reality. Between the inner empire and the world beyond its borders.
Tiger (returns to his throne, voice grows calmer): — Connection… Like the threads of a spider’s web. Barely perceptible, yet strong. Dragon (sits down, folds his wings): — Yes. And each thread is an influence. The wind. The wave. The gaze of another. Tiger (closes his eyes, smiles): — Thank you, brother. Now I see more clearly. Dragon (gently): — And so do I, brother. For conversation is also an influence.
(Pause. The mist around them begins to dissipate, revealing a sunrise over the mountains. Light falls upon the thrones; the amber and jade glow with new hues.)
