A team of architects from Workshop B designed a 650 square meter exhibition space at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art. The exhibition «The Implicit. Trifles and Absurdities of Alexander Ermolaev» featured late works by the artist, architect, designer, talented teacher and his students. Alexander Ermolaev uses materials that can be classified as cultural practices that do not require a professional approach. These are mainly construction and household waste, including wood scraps, driftwood, scraps of fabric, metal and paper. This creative process is reminiscent of El Lissitzky’s recommendations from his children’s Suprematist book «About Two Squares», where he advises: «take pieces of paper, columns, pieces of wood — fold, paint, build». The leitmotif of the exhibition was Silence, present in desert landscapes, modest objects, living surfaces and the anonymity of the ready-made presentation.
