Set of vessels «Beauty is in the eye of the beholder»
Health is a significant aspect of our lives, since almost everything else depends on it. Unfortunately, modern medicine is not omnipotent, so to this day there are many serious diseases, chronic and incurable, genetic or acquired subsequently injuries or diseases.
The idea of my work is to call for the importance of respect, understanding and human attitude towards people with disabilities, towards people who may visually differ from «healthy» people.
However, the main goal of the project is moral support for adults, children and their parents who once heard from doctors about the diagnosis, and gratitude to doctors who fight every day for the life and health of their patients.

I found a reflection of my own idea in the collection of vessels, drawing an analogy with the fact that even a deformed vase, having an unusual, non-standard shape or visual defects, continues to perform its function as a vase, and a person with a disability continues to perform his main function — to be a person.
The material chosen to bring the idea to life is porcelain. The material that best reflects people with disabilities: at the same time fragile, like their health, and hard, like the strength of their spirit and character.
In total, the series of vessels consists of 6 vases that differ from each other, but are united by a common silhouette. Five of them reflect various diseases, and the series is crowned by a vase with warm words of support that are needed not only by people with disabilities, but by every person in general.

Vase «Skin Diseases» Each person has their own unique skin: some have porcelain-white skin, some have moles, some have scars or rashes that arise as a result of many diseases. But if you look closely, you can see how each dot, each redness, each scar creates a unique «decor» on the surface of the skin that distinguishes each of us.
Vase «The Braille Font»
The Braille Font vase gives the viewer the opportunity to forget about all the flowers for a couple of minutes, to escape from the daily rush and try to discover new sensations with their eyes closed: to feel the silhouette of the vase, to feel the relief font, to immerse themselves in a world of only sounds and tactile sensations. Also, with the help of relief, a message is applied to those to whom it is dedicated.

Vase «Children-Butterflies»
Vase «Children-Butterflies» Literally each of us caught butterflies in childhood, but not everyone noticed how our touches hurt these fragile creatures, how each touch with our fingers removed a thin layer of pollen from their wings, which they need for flight, for life. So children with epidermolysis are like butterflies: their skin is the pollen of wings, which does not tolerate unnecessary touches, just as tender and fragile.
The vase imitates a cocoon in shape, through which the relief of thin wings shines through.

Vase «Prosthetics» The vessel is dedicated to people who, from birth or due to a combination of circumstances, lack any limbs. A prosthesis is a vital thing for such people, it is a part of them. Thus, this vase has had its original handle replaced with a similar platinum one. It can be removed from the fastenings, or it can be inside them, preserving all the functions of the vase, as a prosthesis allows people to function fully.

Vase «Corset»
Vase «Corset» A child is like a seedling: some grow straight, while others can lean, bend in different directions. When a person wants a small sprout to grow beautiful, healthy and not break from a gust of wind, then it is tied to a stick, which determines the entire further growth of the plant. So, children with scoliosis are put on a special corset, which does not allow their spine to bend like the stem of a flower. Thus, a relief is applied to the vase, reminiscent of a soft mesh for bottles, keeping them intact, as an allegory for a corset that supports a person’s spine.

Vase «Support» The collection is crowned by a single glazed vase, on which warm wishes and funny stories are applied using decals. They are collected from letters I saved that my classmates once wrote when someone was sick and did not go to school for a long time. These small simple words can play a significant role in those moments when someone needs them.

So, in my work I tried to show beautiful, unique adults and children who have suffered hardships. However, the presented vessels carry not only a symbolic message, but can also become an interior decoration for any home, since each vase retains its direct practical functions, and the decor applied to them only emphasizes the unique features of both the objects themselves and each of us.
